It’s Risky Business: Cyber Threats and Addressing Environmental Aspects of Commercial Transactions


Synopsis

Every company and organization is a target for a cyber attack, and as hackers become even more savvy the threat of an attack seems to increase on a daily basis. The first presenter covers extremely relevant topics, such as what industries and sectors are at the most risk for an attack; reasonable data security requirements for your company; and how to put together a comprehensive risk mitigation strategy plan to minimize exposure for an attack.

For companies that are involved with environmental transactions, there are risks and issues that are ever present. The presenter of the second part of this course gives sound advice on the environmental aspects of corporate and real estate transactions, including due diligence and things to watch out for in structuring the deal. Among other topics of interest, he covers issues that one should bear in mind when involved in a transaction that has an environmental dimension to it and provides excellent tips to successfully navigate these issues.

Aimee Ghosh

Aimee Priya Ghosh is an associate in Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP’s Public Policy practice and is based in the Washington, D.C. office. She focuses her practice on global security, cyber security, and government affairs, with an emphasis on assisting companies in obtaining liability protections under the SAFETY Act.

Ms. Ghosh advises clients on state, federal, and industry compliance obligations and best practices with respect to physical and cyber security planning, incident response, and recovery, as well as liability mitigation strategies in the event of a serious physical or cyber incident. Aimee also represents clients on regulatory and government affairs before the Department of Homeland Security and Congress.

In addition to her work on security issues, Ms. Ghosh provides legal and advocacy advice to national organizations navigating state and local regulations across the country. She also has a background in political law.

Prior to joining Pillsbury, Ms. Ghosh worked as an associate for another law firm where she handled public policy, political law, and insurance coverage matters. Before entering law school, she worked as press secretary to Representative Louise M. Slaughter (NY).

Ms. Ghosh received her J.D., cum laude, in 2012 from American University, Washington College of Law, and her B.A., cum laude, in 2007 from American University.

Reza Zarghamee

Reza Zarghamee is a special counsel in Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP's Environmental practice and is located in the Washington, D.C. office. He has worked on a broad range of environmental matters. He has experience representing domestic and international clients with respect to an array of regulatory and transactional matters in the field of environmental law. Specifically, Mr. Zarghamee routinely advises financial institutions, construction companies, insurance underwriters, and other parties as to the identification and allocation of environmental liabilities in connection with complex corporate and real estate transactions. Mr. Zarghamee also counsels various clients regarding state and federal Superfund liability and cleanup laws, often working closely with environmental consulting firms to develop and implement effective and legally compliant remediation strategies.

In the field of biotechnology and chemical regulation, Mr. Zarghamee regularly helps domestic and international clients obtain EPA and/or FDA approvals for their products. To this end, Mr. Zarghamee has substantial experience working with the following federal statutes: the Toxic Substances Control Act, the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act, the Food Quality Protection Act, and the Federal Food, Drugs and Cosmetics Act.

Mr. Zarghamee also works closely with members of the firm's Public Policy & Political Law and Health Care practices with respect to broad matters in the realm of technology transactions.

Mr. Zarghamee received his J.D. in 2003 from Harvard Law School, and his B.A. in 2000 from Columbia University.
